I know it is based on Debian sid, which can be unstable. Sidux is supposed to use custom scripts to try and stabilize it. Assuming you didn't install updates the second they hit the repos, how stable is it? Could you trust it as an everyday OS, or should it be more of a hobby?

Its like a rock. I have been using Sidux almost a year now and i upgrade everyday with h2's script and no problems of anykind, ever. Sidux is in my main machine and my main OS.

I never encountered any problems in the months I used it either. Upgrade wisely (using the special scripts for it) and I reckon in the long run you are much more likely to run into problems doing dist-upgrades with other distros than continually upgrading in sid.

I would use it as an every-day OS without concern (and have in the past), but you have to understand that every update could break something. It probably wont, but it could. There is no guarantee that it wont. But, you always get to play with the latest and greatest, so I would say it's worth it unless the machine is absolutely critical (even then, if an update breaks something major, you can always run a liveCD for a little while until a fix comes through).

I've been wanting to try it out. I will give it a go when the new version goes final. Thanks for the info.
