This seems to be the real deal, that software looked very mature, and the platform is completely open! One of the demo's shows quake running with full 3d acceleration, and while granted the screen is small, it looks really good. I can't wait to see a phone available with this software!

that panning visited website history was sweet.

Why don't cool things like that exist for desktop.

I like it. It looks very promising.
Now all we need is open-source hardware.

I don't know about her phone number, but the address was Google's, not Erin's. I ride my bike past there all the time.

Back on topic:
According to this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mm6Ju0xhUW8) guy, android uses telepathy as the default backend for the phone application. I sure hope that means more improvements for linux IM/voice are coming soon.

Checkout http://www.OpenMoko.com for open source mobile hardware. Going to be ready by the end of the year. By that time, one can expect to have descent number of reasonable apps to run on android. :)

You know...
Android + OpenMoko + Compiz Fusion.
That would blow *all* phones away.

Android is still vaporware, iphone is real.

Exactly. Nothing you saw there is available to any consumer yet. It is a bit early to make any judgments. Apple will have another version of the iPhone available before anything that uses this to any real degree hits the market.

its too early to judge Android, but OpenMoko is looking really promising.

Now that iphone is open to custom firmware this could actually happen.

I would like it if google sold a phone with android on it. I don't want to void a phone warranty, just because the software that comes with it is crap.

just had a long look (droll) at the openmoko phone, and it looks fine without the android software, but thats my opinion.
