I have been working on new Media Center application since last May. Recently I got a job and I can't spend as much time on this project as I would like to. That's why I'm looking for interested co-workers for the project. If you know Python and object-oriented programming that's enough!

My blog posts about this project: http://www.taimila.com (http://www.taimila.com)
Project homepage: http://www.entertainer-project.com (http://www.entertainer-project.com)

Launchpad entry: https://launchpad.net/entertainer (https://launchpad.net/entertainer)

Let me introduce Entertainer. Entertainer is a GTK-based media center application which uses Clutter library for beautiful OpenGL GUI. Multimedia is handeled with a great gstreamer backend. This combination provides support for large variety of codecs and eye-pleasing UI. Entertainer has seperated backend and frontend processes. Backend is responsible of indexing media, recording TV, updateing RSS feeds and stuff like that. Frontend is mainly just a GUI to media cache.

Currently the project is not ready for release, but you can run it and play audio, video and watch photographs from your harddrive. It also retrieves metadata from internet (album art, movie metadata, lyrics). Read more from my blog.

So, if you feel that you could help project like this, please contact me and we'll talk about it. You can reach me by email lauri@taimila.com and with MSN messanger ltaimila@surfeu.fi

Oh, and yes. This is an open source GPL licenced project. Code is available at Launchpad.

I can't code in Python, nevermind have time to learn it. But I'm interested, I'll give it a test run :)

Laterix, I'm very interested in becoming involved. I'm already proficient with Python and I'm looking for an open source project to join. I'll be in touch shortly. It's a busy week.....

Thanks for the mail!

New devs are still wanted. :) I wrote installation instructions to my blog (http://www.taimila.com) for those who want to test it.

I'd love to get my hands dirty in a little Python for this project (my knowledge is still basic, not very good with lambda functions), but I'm on a Mac so testing could be tough.

This looks really good. I am using freevo right now, which works very well, but new projects are always fun. Will probably try one of the first more feature complete versions, so I wish you and your developers good luck :)

Yeah, it would get too tricky. :(

I'm looking to join a python project.

Have you emailed me? I've received few mails regarding Entertainer that I haven't had time to reply yet.

I would join if you promise me you won't expect too much of me. I am a beginner/intermediate Python programmer. Please contact me on these forums if possible. If not, I have my msn and aim listed here.

All help is always appriciated. Many people have contacted me and I'm working on mail-list to organize this. Could you send me an e-mail to lauri@taimila.com
