Has anyone else experienced this? My Geekbench score in Linux is much higher than the score in Windows, on this same dual booting machine. (?!) Mainly the floating point benchmark is the biggest difference.

Linux:
2308
(http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/23417)
Windows:
1985 (http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/23363)

i just ran the geekbench thingee on intrepid.

first i did it with swiftweasel running (multiple tabs), transmission, and pidgin running and i got 1529 (http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/84835).

so i was like "hey, maybe i should turn some stuff off"... so i did and i got 1779 (http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/84837).

so i booted into XP on the same machine and made sure there were no programs running and did the test. I got a 1497 (http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/84839)

its interesting that linux with a bunch of programs beat XP with NOTHING running.

anybody else have some good results?

Cool benchmark application... the 64 bit version requires a serial number, so I ran the 32-bit version and got an average score of 2282 (http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/claim/?&id=84855&key=829979)

Not bad for a 3 year old machine, eh?

Sorry for the large images, but I felt this was relevant. Look at how much quicker linux ran the test!

Edit: Okay, images reduced. Click for full size.

Okay, I found a version of fyre compiled for Windows, so I decided to see how long it takes to compile something on windows vs. linux.

600x600
A=3 to 4
B=2 to 2
C=1 to 1
D=-4 to -4

Smooth transition over 5 seconds, rendered to a 600x600 avi file, 10 fps quality 0.4

I start the timer, then start compiling at 5 seconds. Once done, i subtract 5 seconds from the count.

Windows Run: 4:22

Linux Run: 0:25

I scored higher on Vista than Ubuntu 9.04

Linux
http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/160378
Vista
http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/90618

I changed the hardrives, but other than that it's the same computer.

I'll have to redo the Vista test I suppose, with these hardrives, but I'm not sure how necessary that is..
