question about hard drive.

ive been hearing stories recently about hard drive and power management/bios setting rough settings on hard drives. i was just wondering what would be the average or normal number of cycles a hard drive would do in say...an hours time? just wondering cuz i dont kno that much about hard drives and am just trying to increase my knowledege and lifespan of my drive thanks.:)

Hard drives are cheap to replace.

Most people aren't concerned about this "issue". The last thing you should do is worry, unless you have a 320GB drive or something (Which most of us don't). I am personally going to keep using Ubuntu on my computer.
