I just wrote a little article about how I normally mess with people when they forget to log out at the university: http://www.bottiger.com/forgot_to_log_out

Now I would like to hear you. Do you ever do this? and if yes - what do you do? Have I missed some good ideas? Please share you knowledge and ideas.

I'll look forward to get some new inspiration

I know of people who forget to close out of the browser after their fix of Facebook and people who really goof up the profile on them. As far as I'm concerned, I only change the status to "___ is needing to remember to close out of Firefox after browsing Facebook" or something like that and log out.

We also used to put substitutes for ls into the profile which worked perfectly - but for an entirely different directory or which showed all directories to be empty. Take care when using this because a panicky user can do more damage than any silly prank.

We also sent eMails titled 'Magement wants to see you' from the user's very own account. Not particularly funny in every case, but in some. (That wasn't at the Uni).

Keyboard delay: the keyboard accepts all keys at exactly the speed as entered, but delays everything a couple of seconds.

Nice site, BTW. I have not ever encountered someone who actually showed a whole page of the lorem ipsum. What does it say, anyway?

#Step 1: Go to the "intrawebs".
#Step 2: Get the gotase picture.
#Step 3: Add to wallpaper.
Close and turn off monitor quickly to avoid getting detected.

I haven't done this before, I'm just saving it when it will be useful. Specially because is quick and shocking.

And PLEASE, if you don't know what goatse is, DON'T GOOGLE IT!

Sorry, that used to be circa 1978 and in an entirely different OS. And I don't know anymore how it was done. Perhaps some of our members could help out here?

And thanks for the link on lorem. There are some versions which do say something, and not always what the publisher wants to, either.
