None. I tend to just have the gnome-panel with the quicklauncher area active.

I used to use KoolDock, I think it was called, but every dock I tried tended to slow down my boot time, having that one extra app to load. So I switched to kicker, made it big, dropped in a few launchers and set it to hide automatically. Looks just like a fancy dock, except without the bouncing and growing icons etc.

AWN is my favorite, but I like ksmoothdock best for KDE. Whoever mentioned wbar... +1, I love that dock too.
Kiba is such a PITA. You can never keep it organized, the stupid physics effects make it bounce all over the place out of control no matter how you adjust everything... all I want is to know where my icons will be and not have them do anything outrageous... and kiba can't do it. I've also found it crashes a lot, but so does AWN. ksmoothdock and wbar are much more stable (and don't require compositing).

Well, Kiba doesn't seem to be that popular here.... :(
Let me give it a vote! I love the way it looks!!!
Look at those crazy icons jump!!

I use awn. I love the options, such as auto-hide behind maximized windows, and I can choose the type of animation effects depending on whether it's loading or what not.
It will also show apps across virtual desktops, and switch to the appropriate desktop.
Behaves just like I want it to
I had installed it via bzr and compiled.
You can get it at getdeb. Though I didn't test their package...
http://www.getdeb.net/app.php?name=Avant+Window+Navigator
I suggest try it, and see if you like it for regular desktop use.

I installed ksmoothdock today. I like it so far and think it should be made a part of KDE. It is still a bit buggy and changing my wallpaper has crashed it a few times. I learned to keep a panel hidden in the upper left corner of my desktop in case it crashes I can get to my menus easily.
Here is a screenshot of it with the parabolic zoom enabled

I tend to use kooldock as it needs no compositing unlike AWN

I don't use a dock now, but when I did, I used Kooldock. KSmoothdock is way to memory-intensive (I can't change my desktop without my computer going unresponsive for several seconds? What gives?).

Awn it's just awesome, it loads faster then my panel and can replace many of the applets.

awn-curves is my favourite, i used kxdocker for a while in kde, but awn has so much more functionality
kiba-dock is stupid, its too much of a toy, the physics make it unusable, i don;'t really see a point in being able to pick the icons up in a rope or whatever

if awn would fix the bugs, it would be an awesome dock

AWN so far. I'm curious about wbar now, though.
Kiba is a neat idea, but it's just crap in general. I could list all the problems I have, and so I will.
1) The "show desktop" applet is ALWAYS attached to one of my icons, so I can never move it without it pulling something else with it.
2) The physics thing is just useless, if pretty.
3) It refuses to understand that I want applications which have launchers to both not create a second icon when opened, but also show an icon if there's another window of it. Example, I put Swiftweasel down there. I open Swiftweasel. It should not create another icon. However, if SW opens a new window, that should get its OWN icon. Kiba does not get this.
4) It's never in the right order whenever I restart. It's like it shuffles itself upon launch.
5) The "parabolic" zoom looks awesome, but the thing always screws up the location of the icons on the dock.
For starters. Kiba "feels" a lot better than AWN, but its functionality leaves MUCH to be desired.

I am using wbar right now since I don't have composting (compiz, beryl, what ever) capability. Don't have a working driver for my graphics card.

When I used a dock, I used AWN. But then I screwed up Compiz-Fusion so now I switched to OpenBox with no dock. I just installed kiba-dock just to see it, and well, I won't use it. I agree though, it has potential, but it's just crap right now. I've also used ksmoothdock as well. Not as good as AWN though.

I have noticed that these dock bars r good eye candy and stuff but when it comes to usability they r nothing compared to a task bar. When I used to use a dock bar, I used AWN, kiba dock for some time, and for a very small time on kde I used kool dock.

I tried Kiba and Awn. I don't like the dock on OSX, and I like it even less on Ubuntu. They just take up too darned much space, and if you set them to autohide, getting them to show takes too long, and bleh. They're kinda annoying and suckish on the usability front too. Trying to right click AWN to get to the settings is Hell, I swear, and if you need to still use the gnome menu to reach the settings and other junk because of it, what use is it? Unless it can completely replace the gnome menu, it's useless and a waste of space.
I prefer to setup keyboard shortcuts to run programs using Compiz for my most common tasks and then use alt+f2 to run the less common stuff. Then it's all out of the way.
I'd really like to get rid of the gnome-panel too, but then I couldn't reach network manager, and I'd kinda miss the nice little panel applets for getting into (and reloading) Compiz quickly, the timer applet (13 more minutes til the pizza shows up), and the keyboard switcher.

macogw, there is a gnome menu applet for AWN that I use, an it works great. Additionally, if you just set your top bar to have that "hide off to the side" thing, you can use that for the notifications (which still look ugly as an AWN applet) when needed, but otherwise just use the AWN bar exclusively. It's how I've been doing things and works great.

Never have found one to my liking . They either don't have autohide (a must for me since i'm a full-screener) or they are resource mammoths.

Try enlightenment then. It has a dock that is neither a resource hog or lacks any of the features you request. :)
