Doesn't look too differnt from Hoary, though - so I suspect many of the improvements are "under the hood".

But Hoary rocks already - so all is good. I AM looking forward to upgrading when Breezy is released. :-)

Sure thing. And anyone interested in what's going to be new, should check:

Lot's of good stuff. It's going to be great.

Running Breezy on my end. Cairo makes everything so purrrty. :)

Aside from the bugs that still need to be ironed out, everything is great with Breezy, the final release is going to kick ****.

Darkmatter, care to post a screen shot of your (default) Breezy desktop with icons and Cairo effects in the Art Gallery?

I looked through the screen shot tour provided in the first post but I did not notice a lot of changes, theme-wise at least... I was hoping for some updated window borders... Does Cairo do more than anti-aliasing? I have read the Cairo introduction (http://www.cairographics.org/introduction) and the wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cairo_%28graphics%29).

I read on BreezyGoals (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BreezyGoals) that the artwork would undergo some changes... Maybe they just aren't ready...

Anyway, I'm reading through the BreezyGoals and I'm looking forward to October!!

I tried the live-cd, and it looked pretty sexy. I might upgrade to it one of these days, and then just update regularly, so I should have the final version by the time it is released. I assume the new artwork will come later, like it did in Hoary?

It looks like they're fumbling ever-closer to yast....

Yeah, but unlike YAST, you don't have to use the GUI tools. You can still fire up the terminal. :)

It still looks pretty much like Hoary, except the Clearlooks metacity is rather funky looking (the rounded corners have SQUARE corners extending past them). The only difference I've noticed graphically with cairo is that font rendering, gradients, and not-so-frequently-used items like the color-wheel seem sharper.

But then again, Breezy is still in beta... ;-)

Actually, Yast has always had a ncurses mode, so its completely possible to run Yast without an X server. Terminals can still fire away. :)

I welcome more GUI configuration options. I love the terminal, but there are some times where I just would rather move a mouse and click stuff.. ;-)

The new "add to panel" still has no search feature!.....I wish Gnome would take a hint from KDE here >:-|
