Voodoo Child (Slight Return)

1983... (A Merman I Should Turn To Be)

Machine Gun - Band of Gypsys

One Rainy Wish

May this be love

-- My favorite riff is from the 1969-1970 New Years Eve Fillmore East show where Jimi does the sickest guitar solo I've ever heard, I think it was right after the "New Years Song".

Too many to list, but the top song for me I think has to be Machine Gun; quite possibly one of the most powerful songs i've ever experienced. That whole Band of Gypsies live album is just incredible.

Yeah, that's one of my favorite albums of all time. I used to have a rare bootleg of the Band of Gypsys playing a New Years show, where they played all of the songs from that album, as well as some cover songs ("Sunshine of Your Love" - Cream), and there were these 17:00 minute guitar solos that were just Jimi freaking out on the guitar... I think it was the new years song, "Auld Lang Syne"... or something after it.

You definitely have to get the bootleg versions so you hear all of the lengthy guitar solos without some idiot editing the best parts out.

I am torn between Watchtower and Voodoo Chile (both parts), depending on mood.

A personal experience (8-) ) with regards to Watchtower makes me name it first: While at the Orbit exhibition I became suddenly fed up with all of it and wanted nothing so much as going home or at least outside. I mast have taken a quarter of an hour to become aware of the fact that I kept voicelessly singing the opening sentence of Watchtower.

angel. no one ever talks about hendrix as a singer, but he was a good one with a great voice (must have been all that distracting guitar stuff).

He not only is one of the greatest Guitarist that ever lived but he also one of the greatest Rock musician to ever sing. His voice and guitar take you away to a different time and place, that is clearly transcendent.

I'd have to say Purple Haze on both counts, since it's the one I can actually play fairly well. Foxy Lady comes in a very close second. Perhaps I'll tackle it next.:)

my favourite jimi tune is probably "third stone from the sun". there's one guitar riff in this song that's so amazing, and very simple too. a runner-up would be "fire", 'cause it's so damn catchy.

i often find myself more blown away by mitch mitchell's drumming, rather than jimi's guitar playing. mitch mitchell is a killer drummer.

Jimi Hendrix (http://www.lyricsfreak.com/j/jimi+hendrix/) › All Along The Watchtower (http://www.lyricsfreak.com/j/jimi+hendrix/all+along+the+watchtower_20071646.html)

There must be some kind of way out of here
Said the joker to the thief
Theres too much confusion
I cant get no relief
Businessman they drink my wine
Plow men dig my earth
None will level on the line
Nobody of it is worth
Hey hey

No reason to get excited
The thief he kindly spoke
There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke but uh
But you and I weve been through that
And this is not our fate
So let us not talk falsely now
The hours getting late
Hey

Hey

All along the watchtower
Princes kept the view
While all the women came and went
Bare-foot servants to, but huh
Outside in the cold distance
A wild cat did growl
Two riders were approachin
And the wind began to howl
Hey
Oh
All along the watchtower
Hear you sing around the watch
Gotta beware gotta beware I will
Yeah
Ooh baby
All along the watchtowerhttp://www.lyricsfreak.com/j/jimi+hendrix/all+along+the+watchtower_20071646.html
