Hi All,

I am wanting to be able to install/configure CentOS or Fedora, for RHCE studies, within a virtual environment. I had someone say today, that I could only do this with VMWare Workstation. Is this the case.

Hi All,

perhaps I didn't explain my query well enough. I am wanting to pratice installing CentOS, onto my Ubuntu machine, from the install CD. As stated before, someone tells me this is not an option under VMPlayer. Is this the case? I had a quick look around the VMWare site for this, but couldn't find anything, although, it may be that I just sux at it.

not sure about vmware, but it can be done in virtualbox. Just click new, set all the appropriate settings you want for the OS (memory, floppy support, etc.), pop in the cd and mount it. Install. It sounds more complicated than it is. I believe virtualbox is in the repos as well.

Centos installs just fine in VMWare server (VM server is freely available).

It is easiest to download the Centos DVD and install from the iso as you then do not need to keep changing CD's
