Hey folks
I have to give a formal presentation(its a proposal for a software project) to my companies' top managers in a week's time. I have full freedom to design the presentation the way i like.
I want to use ubuntu for that and I want to know what are the coolest softwares for presenting ideas?
I'm surely be going to use free mind to display mind maps.
I haven't tried openoffice.org presentation(so far) but I would like to explore it over the next few days. Is that the best software for presenting slides?
Can you suggest any other softwares that I can use?
If it goes well then I might be able to convince them to have more linux computers at work place and not just some servers.
I work in a software design company which is totally dependant on M$ products so help me change that :)

Ok! sounds good. Ill start working on OO presentation.
The graphics apps slipped out of my mind. I will be using them for sure but I need to highlight that I used them.

I often use OpenOffice Draw for charts, though you could also use Dia. Also have a look at keyjnote (http://keyjnote.sourceforge.net/).
And this this (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=421220&highlight=keynote) thread might be useful as well.
I'm interested in this as well. Does anyone know where to find some decent Impress templates? I've downloaded some from I don't remember where, but hardly any of them is fit for professional, formal presentations. I'd appreciate the help.

Always take OpenOffice Portable with you when you go to a presentation...

i prefer to just make my own. use gimp/inkscape/whatever to create an iimage, then just setp it as background (or move to bottom) in your slides in OOP

You can use Compiz Fusion (use the annotate plugin!)

That's not a bad idea. I might give that a try next time I need/want to present something.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I didn't know there was a portable version of open office. Great!
