may dalawa kang mapagpipilian

1. Kopete
2. gyachi

so naturally, automatically e-install nang system mo yung libmcrypt4 dependency,

Yahoo Messenger for Linux (http://messenger.yahoo.com/unix.php)

loell

aside from depending on very old libs, masyadong luma rin ang features ng YM linux version, mas mabuti pa nga yung older versions nang gaim eh, how much more comparing it to the current pidgin.

Believe me, tol, it's not worth the trouble.

I don't think Yahoo is interested in creating a Linux version of YM. As i observed, Yahoo is anti-Linux (the reason why i closed my Yahoo Mail and moved to Gmail). I once recommended Ubuntu to someone in Yahoo Answers and I got banned for violating the "rules". Also you can read chin wong's articles in www.chinwong.com.

Has anyone tried Qnext? It is a cross-platform, multi-client instant messenger with video and audio chat. I had it installed on my laptop running on Gutsy but never got around to play with it as i had problems with Gutsy (should be renamed Crappy Gibbon- flame me if you want to).

I'll try Qnext. I'll give you feedback once tried. :KS

Ok ok, i went overboard with my last sentence. It took me the entire day to get Gutsy working perfectly on my Compaq Presario to no avail. When i used the nvidia driver provided by ubuntu, i would lose hot-plugging and everything moved sluggishly. I downloaded the nvidia driver from nvidia's website and installed it. I had hot plugging but the windows lost the header bar and some other window elements. It was one a.m., i threw in the towel and gave up. The next day i readied a Mandriva Live CD to replace Gutsy, but lo and behold, when I booted to Ubuntu, everything worked well. I was sure i rebooted everytime i installed the nvidia driver. Until now, i'm still stumped...oh well, must be sleepyhead getting the better of me.

My apologies to the original poster of this thread, this is out of topic but i just want to take back what i said in my previous thread.

^I'm pretty sure no one here will take to any un-nice stance towards you-- mababait naman tayo eh. We've all been stumped and left frustrated at some point. What's important is that it got itself working somehow. Hehehe!
