I dunno. I haven't checked up on here in ages, but I have just finally decided to try and be active here again. :)
2 CDs requested on 2007-10-18. 2 CDs were approved and sent to the shipping company 4 hours ago. Please note requests usually take from 4 to 6 weeks to deliver, depending on the country of shipping.
Finally got processed. :D
and Louisville, eh? Nice.

That's a good question!! We have been going steady, but like the UK Football Team, the plays are there, but execution is killing us! We seem to have all the good intentions and good plans, but can't get members (including myself) to commit. In my case, I'm not sure if it is because of a new job, family priorities, etc, but it seems difficult to make plans more than a few days in advance and to get away for several hours.
But I am going to try and change that too. I need to step back in and be a bit more proactive and work to make some time. So look for us at the team meeting on Thursday and don't forget about the Release Party set for the 3rd of Nov.

There is a release party on November 3rd? I will try and see if I could possibly attend.

It just seems to me that the Kentucky LoCo group has run out of steam. Either that, or they are spending their time (like me) trying to work out all the bugs in Hardy.

Still trying to get wireless to work with Hardy on the laptop.

For me, getting wireless to work on my laptop was the easiest experience to date. I didn't even need ndiswrapper with Hardy. Where I am having trouble is printing to my network printer. Setup was a snap with Dapper, Edgy, Feisty, and Gutsy. But not so with Hardy. I had it working once by putting AppArmor into complain mode for cupsd. But then some update killed that little trick and I'm again unable to print from the laptop. So I wait patiently until the real gurus find a cure.
I sure wish configuring Linux distros wasn't always such a challenge. Still, for me it beats the alternative.

I did all the recommended scripts in the terminal, then shut down and restart and still when I click the network icon in the top right corner and then configure wireless. I still do not see other wireless networks I don't even see my own. Its still dead as a doornail.
Laptop is HP Compaq FT 762NR with Vista and Hardy. My goal is to get the wireless working on Hardy. Once that is accomplished I can wipe Vista and do a full install of Hardy. I can get internet on the LAN ethernet, but not on wireless. What am I missing here?
Is there some else I need to be clicking on, like another window to enable wireless other than the one in the network icon in the top right corner?
Wireless is a "Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g WiFi Adapter" built in.

Here is a thread that might be of some assistance on getting your wireless working:

I don't know if you are using 32-bit Ubuntu or 64-bit. It's oftentimes best to try to find a solution that is as close to your situation as possible. As I said before, I used to have to use ndiswrapper, but now there is a new driver for my old Broadcom wireless chipset.

Surprisingly, the latest update of the Hardy kernel has fixed my printing issues. Maybe Hardy will be good for the long term!

Hey guys. We're still around (the Ubuntu Kentucky LoCo team, I mean). You can always catch us on irc.freenode.net in the #ubuntu-us-ky or #bglug channels.
Several of our members have started using other distros (myself included) so our experiences with Hardy have been minimal. However, we have been having IRC meetings every week (mostly) and even had a real-life meetup on the 14th. The problem is, no one really shows up / participates. We'll keep having the weekly meetings (Tuesday at 8pm EDT in #bglug on irc.freenode.net) and trying to schedule meetups, however. The tentative schedule for them is once a month, date to be determined by peoples' schedules.
There are some larger things in the pipeline we're trying to work out, including (but not limited to): linux-based webcast, linux conference held in Lexington (future goal), and of course, more release parties and installfests.
So please, PLEASE come on out to #ubuntu-us-ky or #bglug on irc.freenode.net, and feel free to head on over to http://www.bglug.net and http://forums.bglug.net to see more info on the current state of the BGLUG / Ubuntu Kentucky LoCo Team.

To add to what jkeyes0 said we are really wanting to have more IRL meetings. The online stuff was good to start out with but it would be a lot more fun to actually try to get together for a meeting. We have some plans but we need the members of the team(s) to be able to execute them.

Hey guys, Mike here (the redheaded guy that was at the May release party). Just letting you all know I'm still alive. Sorry I missed the last IRL meeting, but I hope to be at the next one.

One thing that would be a huge help with the IRL meetings is if we could get more people in IRC to help plan them. We try to meet most Tuesdays in the channel from 8:00 - 9:00 PM EST to discuss stuff like this. If you have any ideas and don't want to wait until meeting times then post them on the mailing list or just speak up in the irc channel.

It's been over a year since I last logged into these forums (SORRY!). I am now a proud sailor in the USN =] -- but anyways... That has drastically cut down on my free time, and I've been doing that Vista thing for a while. Last night I decided to check up on Ubuntu and it's come a longgg way. Soooo I backed up all of my important stuff and threw out the vista and threw in the Hardy. Took a bit for me to get my wireless working on my HP (especially because I had to find my drivers, docs, etc on my PSP!) but it was altogether fun to be back in the swing of things with Ubuntu.
I'm done rambling on now... Just wanted to give a hello to all of you back home (wish I was there!)

I'm still around. I usually come to the forums once a day and look for unanswered posts, but rarely think to stop by the loco forum. I guess the reason I'm not very active is job, wife, and three daughters. I run a milk route in Franklin, so I have to go to bed around 6:00-7:00PM every night, so I'm not up for the meetings and can't stay up for physical meetings.
