Interesting discussion here - a manager of a small business suspects the company's sys admin of wrongdoing & maliciousness, and is seeking advice. Sys admins seem to hold a lot of power, What can regular non-expert business managers do to mitigate the risk of a sys admin going bad?

- Get a good admin (good credentials and references)

- System Administrators do hold a lot of power. I once had control over a new business's site, and could have easily caused harm, or stolen money (I wrote the site, and scripts), but that is unethical

- I am just a web developer, so I don't know "best hiring practices" for employers, but I feel my work and references speak for themselves.

- Respect the administrator, because it is a very important post and deserving of recognition.
