I'm shopping around for a domain registrar (for a .net domain). Anyone have any suggestions? Any that stand out above the others? Any to definitely avoid?

Do you host through these guys as well, heimo?

I've never had a problem with GoDaddy, except that they charge you an arm and a leg if you want any "frills." If you just want a domain name, and that's it, GoDaddy's prices are great.

The French-based company Gandi.net is also very good.

No. I use their free DNS servers and those are *great*, but I host (mail/www) on another ISP and my own computers.

EDIT: And of course I've also registered several domains through them, wouldn't recommend otherwise. I've only experience on one other registrar, tucows via small hosting company - it was ok.

Thanks for the replies. I decided to go with GoDaddy. Only thing I wanted was a (private) domain. Cost me $13 for a year...seemed good to me. They were running a special where you buy any service and the domain registration was only $3.99.
