spim/xspim compile errors (Gutsy/7.10 x86)

Hey everyone,

Just did a clean install of Gutsy (7.10, x86) and I'm having a problem compiling spim/xspim (http://pages.cs.wisc.edu/~larus/spim.html). I had NO problem at all doing this on my Feisty (7.04, x86) install, so I'm puzzled as to why this isn't installing.

I've already DLed and installed the following packages:

byacc
flex
bison
libx11-dev
libxaw7-dev

As root, when I run make from the spim directory I get:

I solved the xspim portion of the problem; I had to install:

libc6-dev

However, when I try to compile spim, I now get this instead:

Of course, there is spim in the repository, but I'd still like to know why it won't compile...

This may not be your issue (I built spim back with feisty), but you may want to try running "sudo apt-get build-dep spim" in the console to ensure all the dependencies for building SPIM are satisfied.

Thanks for the idea, but it didn't work. It installed some packages (g++, x-dev, etc.) but trying to compile spim afterwards gives me the same error as before. How strange.

Anyway, now that I have xspim working, I am not too worried about it.
