I thought it was because the bug pertained to Windows.

Yes, the 2.0.0.7 fixes only applied to Windows but we should be getting 2.0.0.8. I found this (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/154393) in Launchpad

Everyone(using firefox 2) is, the 2.0.0.7 only fixed a quicktime vulnerability, and since that only affected windows users, there was no point in updating ubuntu users to 2.0.0.7.

Oh, cuz I was using ******* on the family computer last night, and it said 2.0.0.8, I thought I refused to upgrade or something last time...

Just look at bug 154393 in launchpad.

As I'm not using firefox, but homemade trunk build of what will become next year Firefox 3...

You can also use the 2.0.0.8 linux version from Mozilla. Just download the tar, unpack it somewhere in your /home dir and run firefox binary from there (works fine on gutsy - actually it should do fine in other ubuntus aswell). Since the settings are preserved in .mozilla (guess), you will also have access to your bookmarks/history etc..
