View Full Version : Ubuntu Embroidered Patches

Hello Everyone!

I did a generic search across the forums for an Ubuntu Embroidered patch. I am looking for something to put on my backpacks, laptop bags, and maybe certain articles of clothing. I looked at the various items for sale through canonical and cafepress and was generally dissatisfied. I think it would be better to order a nice, good quality iron on patch with the ubuntu logo and 'linux for human beings' on it or something. I was wondering who if anyone has gone down this road. Are there any rules/etiquette I am breaking by attempting to do this? In addition, most of the places I have found that would do this want a minimum order of 100 pieces at around $1.50 a pop. I have no problem paying up front for an order if there is a group of people that want to get in on it with me. Please let me know. Please post here as I will be checking this thread, and/or you may contact me at my username @ gmail.com.

Thanks!

I would happily buy an Ubuntu patch to add to my extensive patch collection :D

It's just a pity I can't sew it to my laptop :(

I think this is a great idea. It would be nice to get many people involved as the price on 500+ pieces is very low.

Getting many people to agree on a design however might be a challenge. We need to get the graphic artists among us to submit some ideas.

Just to bump this thread I submit a local patch idea I've been playing around with, hopefully it will generate some interest for a "Global" Ubuntu patch.

Disclaimer: I am in no way artistically inclined and while criticizing my submission may hurt my feelings j/k...It will probably be funny LOL.

I think just the round logo would be best. Would save any arguments about wording, etc.

If it came down to it, I would be willing to pay around $2 per patch, and buy two or three of them.

I don't know how payment would work, though. Paypal?

I think an embroidered patch is a really good idea!
Maybe two sizes, too, a large one for backpacks etc, and maybe a smaller one that you can iron over that little "alligator" on your polo shirt!

Maybe you could just have the round Ubuntu logo, and have the word "Ubuntu" on the inside bottom edge of the logo, so it would be connected to the bottom half of the circle.

Yes, I have been searching for one!

Is there a way to link this thread to the art and design forum?

A patch is a great idea!

I am considering setting up a template at the local embroiderer's for $65, and the logo would be stitched directly to the bag or garment or what have you.

I am guessing the patch order was not put together?

If I set up this template, folks can send me items to be directly embroidered for just $13.

The template will be the ubuntu circle of friends logo with "ubuntu" written to the right.

You may contact me by replying to this post.

I reside in Flagstaff, Arizona, USA.

I hate to go off topic, but I had to point this out. I was scrolling down the Custom Patches page mentioned earlier and noticed this:

Notice anything wrong with that (perhaps in the top-right area)?

:lolflag:

Sweet, sweet irony.

Oh, and you can go to the page to see it for yourself; I didn't edit this. ;) (link (http://www.custompatches.net/samples.html))

@ nabl: Very good - had to look hard for it but once I saw it, it was kinda obvious! :lolflag: Irony indeed!

@ shen-an-doah: Loving the avatar - very nice!

So was I for ages, but I didn't want to give it away until you'd had a chance to look for it yourself. ;)
