Some guy really went nuts on this one, a computer built by spending just $1 on duct tape :D

Ubuntu Feisty OS: $0.00. Cardboard box: $0.00. Duct tape: $1.00.
Having the bitchin'est case mod this side of the trailer park: priceless.

Long Live Linux!

i would just like to point out that duct tape is conductive of electricty. I wouldn't want it touching the bare motherboard.

Also what do Mormans have to do with Microsoft or Linux?

I actually found this

There are so many old PC cases lying around, one could buy one or head to the dump. I don't see any reason why one couldn't just scavenge one that won't die with heat or water.

Where did he get the components?

We should be coming up soon to the Mac-o-lanterns. I've seen for the past couple of years somebody has taken a Mac or PC components and put them into a carved pumpkin. They inclcude a picture of the computer running from the PC-o-lantern.

How in the world do they manage to put PCs inside pumpkins? Wouldn't the pumpkin conduct electricity, and short the motherboard?

How in the world do they manage to put PCs inside pumpkins? Wouldn't the pumpkin conduct electricity, and short the motherboard? The one I remember had a slot in the back where they slid the motherboard in (like a slot-loading CD?) and they put plastic around where the motherboard actually connects with the pumpkin.

For the eyes they have 2 CPU fans (1 blowing in and 1 blowing out I believe)

Since when is duct tape conductive? And why would you pay a buck for that thing? I got my fileserver for free, because someone didn't want their old P3 any more (I still had to buy new HDs and a SATA card, but still...).

Duct tape, in the USA and Canada, is a vinyl, fabric-reinforced, multi-purpose adhesive tape with a soft and tacky pressure sensitive adhesive.

Vinyl. Fabric reinforced. There you have it!
Yeah, if duct tape were conductive, many would have died already :D

Although that thing really IS a fire hazard if the computer got hot enough :)

I got my fileserver for free, because someone didn't want their old P3 any more (I still had to buy new HDs and a SATA card, but still...).So far I've gotten 3 of my 4 computers for free as toss-aways (except the cost of 1 hard drive and I plan on maxing out the RAM on the 2 latest systems).

I still feel guilty thinking the 1 computer system I bought back in 2000 may be retired because of these "new", more powerful systems...
