I have made acquaintance with many,
and been very disappointed,even hurt....
FCx, control freak!
and by golly! a pain updating,
Suse, cute - but only when she's with
someone else (screen shots),
she rejected my screen...broke my heart.
Then one day I laid eyes on her,
Ubuntu was her name,
aaah Ubuntu...what a lovely name!
reminded me of everthing beautiful in me,
and...in others too,
I installed her without delay,
It was love at first site,
brown, apt...and Oh so simple.
The first time she revealed to me
her apt-get,
I knew this love is for real.
My past heartaches and pains are gone.
I am in love friends, hopelessly in love,
and this time...I am staying!

Makes me want to shed a tear, man. Be careful, though, she's also my girl. I don't wanna have to throw down the gauntlet.

Ubuntu IS really good. I have no plans of changing, even though
I do want to check out a few other distros to see how they compare.

I don't really much like KDE, though, so for "newer" machines I think
Ubuntu is simply the best. :-)

I've decided to continue running the top release version of
Ubuntu as soon as it's released. I wonder what it will be
like upgrading to Breezy, though: I mean - will I be able to upgrade the
distro without breaking anything. We'll, see ... .-)

I almost want to, but like I wrote I've decided to stay on the released top
version of Ubuntu. This means I'll upgrade to Breezy when it's officially released.

This is because I prefer to consider myself a Linux "user" rather than "hacker" ... :-)

"My personal watermark for success is the Ubuntu project — not in terms of the distribution, but in the way that it caught on. Remember that Ubuntu is a very young project and it's garnered enthusiasm from users and industry. In less than a year, Ubuntu has built a huge user base and attracted attention from OEMs looking for the right distro. (The next release should take this to the next level, since Breezy is supposed to include OEM tools that make it easy for OEMs to deploy Ubuntu.)
So why has Ubuntu caught on so quickly? Well, in part I think it's timing and luck (never underestimate the power of being in the right place at the right time…), but there are several other reasons as well — one, it's easy to use. Novell has that covered nicely with OpenSUSE, so no problem there.
Also, Ubuntu was — right off the bat — easy for people to get involved with."
