As you do, I decided to see if I could bring my trusty Xfce + Compiz desktop down, simply by opening application after application. I then used the "scale" plugin, to cause some serious memory ownage... or so I thought...

The result was this:

:)

I then decided to logout, to save myself the trouble of closing all these apps. I logged back in, only to find that "save session" was enabled. Nevertheless, all the apps were loaded in 20 seconds. :)

I was tempted to carry on, but It was starting to lag a bit (cube was down to about 30fps as opposed to 100+)

Google earth would not slow down, even after turning up the graphics settings and trying to rotate the cube at the same time :)

It'd be interesting to see the 'top' output while all those apps were open.

The cover switcher was also amusing, to say the least. It took about 2 minutes to go round one loop of applications.

Tried it once myself, one application that single handedly locked my system was firefox.
