does anyone know how to set up a torrent tracker on ubuntu?

http://azureus.sourceforge.net/

this runs on Ubuntu and it will serve torrents all day long if you let it

I'm thinking the OP is looking to setup their own "tracker" not just the abiility to seed files.

yep, that's what i'm after.
unfortunately the links on that page seem to be dead. however, i have found an apt entry that promises to download it, i'll let u know how it goes.

Grab apache2, php5, apache2-mod-php5, mysql-server, php5-mysql and a copy of the TorrentBits snapshot. Simple installer. Used on places link OiNK etc.

installed all those packages but couldn't find anything about torrentbits - got a link?

i did however find the sourceforge page for snakebite:

however, it depends on an older version of python which i can't install without uninstalling the newer one (on which other stuff depends)!
