I remember getting an acoustic coupler in the 80s, and compared to the "complete system" above, it was fairly simplistic, though for me it was the most exciting piece of technology I had seen to date. I'll never forget the fascination of my computer "talking" with another computer -- even though it was only at 300bps. The phone bills that followed were less fascinating. ;)
