View Full Version : Request for action against other user's racist attitude.

Hello forum staff. Last week I participated in a thread in the backyard titled Chavez accuses US of military rebellion (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=567437). Well, the point is, another user (click4851 (http://ubuntuforums.org/member.php?u=50346), to be more specific) made an insulting post towards me with a high level of racism (to be more precise, he/she called me "red neck"; I could quote the post if you find it necessary, since I have it in my subscriptions folder). I know KiwiNZ gently removed the offending post, but my point of view is that these kind of attitudes, and specially racism should not be allowed at all in the forum and this user deserves some kind of infraction as an example of what should not be done (either an infraction point, multiple points or even a ban).

I've read and accepted The Backyard's code of conduct, obviously, and I know it says "If you are easily offended this forum is not for you", but it also claims:

*ALL* posts and replies must be polite and courteous. You are never free to degrade, demean, humiliate, provoke and/or attack other forum members, ethnic groups or political groups, etc.

And this situation (degradation, humiliation, etc) is indeed what happened (as I said before, I could quote the above user if you, members of the forum staff find it necessary).

Well, that's all; all I can say is I hope we can get a fair agreement here.

P.S.: Oh, and by the way, it's late here (00:38 am) and I must go to bed, so I won't be able to reply until tomorrow morning.

If this is the post you refer to http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=567761

I believe the redneck comment was directed at themself. No names were mentioned.

In that thread both you and click4851 (http://ubuntuforums.org/member.php?u=50346) were making inappropriate comments that were moved to the jail.

Well, about the redneck comment, you're right, no names were mentioned, and it's difficult to distinguish to whom it was directed because all click4851 wrote was a nonsense. And about both of us making inappropriate comments, all I did was to tell him/her to write something that made sense and I don't think asking other person to write something that makes any sense be inappropriate (anyway, it's ok, I don't mind the fact that you removed my post from the board).
