View Full Version : Proposal for Next Ubuntu Release Name: Rocky Raccoon

Hello all,

I'm a new Ubuntu user, having recently installed Ubuntu (Hoary) on an old Apple PowerBook G3 and then on a Blue & White PowerMac G3. I'm loving the distro, the community, and everything about Ubuntu so far. Today, while hanging out in the IRC support channel (#ubuntu on irc.freenode.net), I came up with the name of a future release of Ubuntu: "Rocky Raccoon". Remember that old Beatles song?

Please, will someone consider passing along this suggestion to the Powers That Be (I guess that would be all of us) at Ubuntu headquarters? I think it would be a fabulous name for a future release, such as the Fabulous Four(th Release) - get it? How 'bout it, hmm?

I heard that song. Our English teacher had us listen to a few songs every Friday in his class and then we would discuss them. Rocky Raccoon was one of them.

Rocky Raccoon, I love it. :) That was my favorite Beatles tune as a kid. If that didn't grab people attention, I don't know what would.

I would think that it would violate copyright laws though.

Mabye we should wait until a few version down the road to name it rocks. We want to wait until Ubuntu is REALLY good to name it something famous like that.

If it didn't violate copyright laws that is.

grumpy groundhog is the development version codename. there will always be a grumpy groundhog. Once it gets stable, it will be called Breezy (or so I have understood)

Rocky Raccoon is a great name.
