In programming class today, we had a student representative from Microsoft talk about a Microsoft event (namely, a Halo 3 party) that some university groups would be hosting.

This made me think about the lack of representation of other groups on campus.

I think it would be great if we had some sort of Ubuntu event on the U of R campus since there are so many of us in the Rochester area. I don't have any ideas right now, but hopefully we can make this a brainstorming thread. I'm pretty sure I can get the CS Undergrad Council and/or Computer Interest Floor to help sponsor something we might come up with.

Good luck with organizing something there at UR. You might also check with some of the people at RIT as they've put together a LUG where the majority of users are Ubuntu users.

Hey all,

Definitly check out RIT, I am a student there (Electrical Engineering) and there is a LUG. However, I am not a member mostly due to lack of free time (I'm on a sport... lots of time in addition to school). If something started between U o R and RIT it could be big, I know there are a lot of students running Ubuntu on campus!

Thank You.

Yes, let me know too.

I am in the Rochester area, but not a 'college' student anymore.
