I've just been browsing through this months desktops thread and can't help but notice the seemingly large amount of Openbox users there are on the forums.

Now I use fluxbox for my daily workings and I like it very much but in the interest of trying something new, what's so special about Openbox.

Come on all you openbox peeps, give me a reason to use it!!

I almost always stick to fluxbox myself, but I've seen many conversations about this in the past (usually on the Gentoo forums). It seems to come down to two main reasons. First off, Openbox is smaller and lighter on the resources than is Fluxbox. Personally, I think that you would have to be using fairly old/low end hardware in order to notice the difference, but there is one. Second, Openbox is fully compliant with the ICCCM and EWMH specifications while Fluxbox is not (currently, but they are getting closer with each SVN commit).

smaller than flux? that must take some doing, but I'm pretty sure the difference would be negligible on my hardware. However the ICCCM bit is interesting.
