I need to buy a mac book pro ASAP for college, but I also want to make sure it has leopard on it. Does anyone know when leopard starts getting put on new machines. Becuase macs website says that "all macs come with the latest version of osx tiger".

But it's october so leopard should be out.

Dude, leopard isn't out yet. It'll probably come out in Late October, like the 30th so you got a long time still. I'm sure though if you buy a mac THIS late you'll get a free upgrade or something.

From looking at past releases of OS X, Apple has given free upgrades to people who purchased a Mac between the time the release date was announced and when the Macs began shipping with the new version.

If I were you, I'd wait until a release date is announced.

The latest hot rumour is October 26th.

Of course if your relying on the machine to work without a hitch then it might be prudent to wait until 10.5.1 or 10.5.2 updates have been released and tested by the Mac community at large.
