I can't wait for these to start selling on the East Coast. I'll be the first to buy one!

Looks neat, but for now I will stick with my Prius. :guitar:

Can you plug the car into a charger and run it on batteries only for a distance? I can't see the images(must be flash)

I got my Aveo for now. I would like to take an old civic and replace the engine with a battery and a giant motor, and I would drag race it. Motors give you massive amounts of torque compared to engines.

That's a cool looking vehicle. The only funny thing about it is that they say they want to make it "incredibly safe" and they put an awesome looking computer screen right next to the steering wheel. Real safe!

The car of the future would not use any gas at all. Why not focus on a way of powering a car with a new kind of power source?

it would be good to see something like this finally take off. There has to be a point in time where this thing becomes the norm.

So...where do I put my stuff? Looks useless to me for anything other than driving to work in the morning, which is what I would use public transportation for anyway. I just got done with an 18 hour cross country drive with 3 people, a cat, and some christmas presents. No way would I want to do it in that.

 I think it is cool. I saw an article about it in WIRED magazine. Something about "the race to build the first 100 mpg car." I want one!

Did you do that in a mini or some other sort of car. My point being that this is just one type of 'modern' car. There will surely be larger types of these cars to come in the future.

Actually we did it in a '94 chevy blazer with a little over 200,000 miles on it. Packed to the brim, mostly because that grill I got for christmas has a pretty big box. :)

Yeah i dunno, I keep seeing all these 'future' cars and 90% of them aren't even practical to me. Sure it gets great milage and all...but thats about it. Not to mention its pretty ugly imo.

I did a 150 mile trip from my house to state college, PA a few weeks ago. My Aveo lacks cruise control, so my foot/leg was sore after about 90miles. I was getting around 35-40 miles to the gallon at 65mph. I switched with my dad, and he guns it at 80 mph for an hour. He gets around 25 miles to the gallon. Thankfully he paid for the gas.

Once the 3 year warranty expires, I may look at adding on cruise control.

The issue with cars is not just how many MPG / KPG they get. But also, how much return on investment (ROI) you get from the fuel-source. An ideal fuel would cost little if anything to process/refine, deliver to the vehicle, and in turn would produce a big "bang" for the buck. A big focus has been on ethanol, but that's only a small step up the chain. Hydrogen fuel-cells are also popular to talk about.

However, air-powered cars (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmqpGZv0YT4) seem to be pretty amazing, and require little "refinement" of the fuel-source. Combine that with things like tweels (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcdmH_hVWBY&feature=related), and pretty soon we'll have cars that won't require so much maintenance, or stops at the gas station.

While this seems pretty cool, compared to computers, cars are pretty behind the times.

You posted a link, but I can't find anything about a car.

That, sir, is a motorcycle.

And that time was the late 1800s (http://earlyelectric.com/timeline.html). To think what could have been...
