Hey VA people!

The new release is coming up very shortly, do y'all plan on moving to it right away? I think I'll upgrade all but my server which will stay on dapper until the next LTS.

hey srt4play, not many responses I see. Wondering how many ubuntu users are in the area.

My server and laptop will be upgraded. And these will actually all be fresh installs. Haven't had any sort of linux running in my house in a while.

Just now getting a new laptop and a server set up.

Hey it's like a ghost-town in this forum. Glad to hear from you.

Hey all,
I'm now tri-booting Vista premie, XP pro (faster Call of Duty), and the Gibbon on a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop with ATI x1400 video.

I am so impressed with Gutsy & the enhanced desktop. I'm doing the full blown tricked out compiz flavor. 3D cube, wobbly windows, etc. Two words came to mind - Sa-weet! :guitar:

It is so much better than alligator wrestling with Beryl, etc on Fiesty. As b4, I love showing my Vista friends features that Aero doesn't have.
Spending more and more time on Gutsy!

yeah i will be upgrading to Hardy but damn I will love to do a fresh install but I will hate to have to get my graphics card, World of Warcraft and all of my applications installed again.

Not to mention my Compiz settings. Yeah Upgrade!!

Hope it turns out well

Yes, I will be loading Ubuntu on my brand new Mac! I am turning my PC's into dedicated Hardy Server and Hardy Desktop boxes. Hey guys, we need to get something together for the launch? Any ideas? I am working on a site www.onlyhelping.org (http://www.onlyhelping.org) for nothing but Ubuntu Server, Ubuntu Desktop, CentOS, Oo Writer, and Oo Impress. Swing over tomorrow to the site. I will have the skeleton of it up. I am just organizing it now. I work full-time and I am doing graduate school (have to tend to the girlfriend to keep her happy:)) too so I don't have as much time as I would like to dedicate to getting it running quicker. Any suggestions would help. I know what, we need to get a Bar-B-que or something together to get the dust off of this LoCo group. Maybe get some community volunteer installing going.:)

Yep, Have been running Hardy since the 24th. At first it was doing the "freeze" thing I saw mentioned in the forums but has been behaving just fine for the past couple of weeks. It is all good, had run dapper for a long time then tried Feisty and Gutsy. Gutsy would not run my scanner ( Epson CX500) but with Hardy it worked right out of the box! SO far this is the best running Ubuntu yet for me so I am going to keep this one going I hope, lol. Never know what will happen with the updates! You are right that this is a quiet forum, I just check in from time to time to see what's happening. Hey, good luck with your Hardy install, should be just fine.
