i love it.

i have trouble doing the harder difficulties though due to the 5th fret. the gap between F4 and F5 on my keyboard is not FoF friendly.

It's in the Debian Lenny repos:

(click on the image to navigate to Optickle Art, once there Click the image again to see full size)
http://cafelinux.org/OptickleArt/albums/userpics/normal_snapshot27.png (http://cafelinux.org/OptickleArt/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pos=0)

Can't you still use Ubuntu and enable the Debian Lenny repos?

Like I have above with Elive Gem?

enabling those repos might be bad because im sure the debain and ubuntu repos have a ton of the same packages and enabling those repos might cause problems in the future

i would just search get-deb.net for a deb, or manually download the deb from the gutsy repos and install it yourself (or see if it will install)

Perhaps this is why I run Elive?

Honestly more and more I am thinking of doing a pure Debian Install, it appears that Debian's derivatives are all behind times ie: Elive, Ubuntu, Mepis, etc.

you may run elive but most anyone who comes in here is most likely running ubuntu.

Same thing.

They are both Debian.

Technically I run Debian Lenny just within the Elive Gem shell, I honestly would have stayed with Xubuntu if I would have been able to get e17 working properly.

I see little difference between all the Debian derivatives. Elive Gem is unique because it is the most stable of e17 distros, but I heard e17 with Debian Lenny is very stable also.

it does not have to be installed, just run. it doesn't matter if it is in the repos or not.

if you download the game from the frets on fire site you do not need to install it. you can just open the frets on fire folder and run the game

Frets of Fire is the greatest commercial for guitar hero ever. Me and 4 friends all ended up buying guitar hero after getting hooked on FoF.

It's like a gateway drug or something.

That's just silly.

why? its what you have to end up doing if you cannot find a deb for a certain program. either way, installing a deb or downloading the program from the website and extracting it, your still doing the same thing, running the binary...

emm... Maybe you should try updating the apt-get sources list....
Try

sudo apt-get updtate

If that doesn't solve the problem... Try finding out the source adress of frets on fire.... Maybe someone knows it? Hope it helps, and please be aware, that I don't use the english version, so there may be some mistakes here ;) .
