Yeah, I understand what you mean. I wouldn't expect too much from a person with no feedback either. But this is actually my first venture into ebay and I've never sold or bought anything from it before, but I have helped others do so. All I can say is that I PROMISE it ain't a scam. I like ubuntu, I want to help distribute ubuntu, and this is a fun way of doing so.

As for the other question, yes, I am building these computers myself.

images wouldn't load for me.

the main drawback i see, is a lack of a modem.

a lot of people are still on dial up.

Just an Idea

The regular person doent know what Ubuntu comes with so when you just say it is Ubuntu he probably assume there is no software with it

Therfore you should state what software its contain

like
This machine ships with greate open source software like: (or something like that)
Open Office 1.xx Package
Open Office Word Can read and write doc formats rtf formats etc
OPen Office spreadsheet
Open office Presentation
etc
Evolution Great email
Many great games including Solitaire, kabal, blackjack, frecell, miner, klondike,c amelot etc
Gimp Image Editor

Yeah, if you actually explain to the user what ubuntu is, what it comes with etc. Thr best selling point is that the buyer won't have to upgrade thr computer when they upgrade the OS.

Great! another person doing the same as me, i also sell computers with pre-installed ubuntu on them! FreeBSD and other Linux flavors too. I also sell modded computer cases and custom computer cases as well. Here is one that i have.. http://www.cpu-guy.com/flamecase.jpg .. It's REAL tough selling on ebay, makes it worse with no feedback. Getting more in depth as to what ubuntu is as far as software is a must (Office Suite, Firefox web browser, AIM, etc). i had several gaming systems on ebay in the past , i got alot of bids but no where close to what it needed to sell for. Good luck to you.

Can I ask kind of a technical question about this? When I buy a computer with Windows pre-installed or Mac pre-installed, the installation is a special kind of installation because the first time I run it, I set up all of the users on the machine and all of the passwords.

Is there a way to install Ubuntu without creating a user and then prompting the first user after the install to create a user account in the sudoers file along with a sudo password?

I'm just asking because I probably won't sell a computer, but I may give away Ubuntu-preinstalled computers.

I think they're working on it (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/OEMInstaller).

aysui...just thought I'd let you know that I read the article in your signature, and I agree 100%, tis a great article. :)

Oh, and BTW, I took the distro test mentioned in there, I got Debian and Ubuntu as perfect matches! These are the two distros I always switch between, so this test must be pretty good.

There have been a couple of Slackware users on LinuxQuestions who think the quiz is worthless, but I think it'd give a lot of new users a good place to start--plus the quiz developer seems to be open to suggestions.

Dude! Post all the info on the computers.
Motherboard.
Memory speed and size.
Model of the hardDrive...etc.

That P4 3.00Gigs is nice for a friend, but I wouldn't pay any1 describing it like that.

Pentium IV 3.00GHz Model 530... The whole nine yards as americans say!:D
