Hello,
I have a question, it may be silly but still like to ask it. After ubuntu releases a version. Could one still download in its most genuine state the unsupported old? That is say a user wants to download Warty hedgehog or hoary hetchhog could they? Say the old Cd broke, or user net installed or, or. I am making this up currently have no need for such old version.
My reasoning stems from this: User installs some program that manages files. Down the line they are running Ubuntu 456722 ("name substituted by numbers. I do not know the name so far ahead heh). Suddenly they realize they have managed some files in a unique (yet open source) format. But the program has now been discontinued, no developers have taken on the project. The user now likes to access those files say they are pictures of someones marriage 5 years ago (I'm making this up to make a point)
Could a user install the whole old distribution with all programs that were released for it at the time? Of course assuming within last few years. I mean reality wise the older distro may have trouble booting in a newer machine that is too different. Are old ubuntu releases and every package for it archived? Such as built against that versions internals ex: G++ C++ etc.
