A question about blogging

I am quite new to blogging, so I was wondering what the experiences of others have been. How long, if at all, did it take for your blog to develop a steady stream (no matter what size) of readers or reactions?

eh, i started getting hits mostly from friends, then after awhile random hits. i mostly did mine to vent though, so i really didn't care if anybody looked or not. i've not touched mine for like 6 months now :)

I started mine about 2 months ago and wrote a for newbies post on Howto compile Pidgin. Thast been listed on some massive website and is second top hit on google for compiling pidgin or something and i get a steady stream of ~30 visitors a day.
