A quick google search will bring up several stories of how HP is planning to expand its preinstalled Linux offerings. This is great news, i've been wanting to by a new computer, but didn't want to pay the Windows tax and I'm not a Dell fan. Hopefully HP will offer some Linux PCs geared at the home user and not just businesses. No word on which countries yet, but US is said to be under consideration and since Dell is opening up in Europe it makes sense for HP to follow. OEMs are finally figuring out they can save themselves and customers money by selling open source. It goes with out saying that if the #1 and #2 computer companies start selling Linux, a trickle down effect for hardware support and software offerings is likely to happen.

I'm wondering if this explains AMDs push to open ATI drivers. I didn't realize HP's Aussie boxes run AMD. The two coming out together makes wonder if HP will be using ATI in its Linux offerings.
