I would like to see peoples favorite distros and get alot more replays then those other Threads. You may also flood this thread with your favorite ones, just SHOUT YOUR FAVORITE ONE.

You're asking for a favourite in an Ubuntu forum? What might have given a better balance would have been to ask what is peoples favourite other than Ubuntu ...though I'm sure there's a thread somewhere which has already asked just that (maybe it's in the Other OS Talk (http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=147) section of these forums).

PS. And here is that thread: Discussion: Which OTHER distro would you reccomend..? (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=555665)

Get him boys!

(jk :));) I love Arch because the wiki and install is so straight forward, and I believe pacman is lighter than APT.

I love Ubuntu ever since I heard about it in 2005. And it is the only one that I would use at home. I just recently just got Hired from IBM close to where I live. :) What more could I ask for.

I voted for Puppy. It's a slick piece of work and I use it more than Ubuntu now. (Usually because I forget to take the Puppy live CD out before booting Ubuntu)

Slackware. First used 3.5 back in 97-98 and it's been my favorite ever since. I do tend to use Ubuntu on more machines though.

I voted for puppy beacuse well...I felt the need to vote for *not* ubuntu, and..I agree with Chilli Bob. It was the only distro that could run on another minimal comp I have access to, and its just..feels..nice. Portable and handy.

--Edit-- This probably would have been better placed on the "Other distro forum", but I just gained a new respect for puppy linux today, so..its my temporary favorite.

Ubuntu on fast machines. DSL or Puppy on slow machines depending on what network card they have. Puppy has a very good network driver management system but DSL is prettier in terms of look and feel.

ps. I voted for Puppy. Nice to see there's some othe rpuppy fans out there :-)

Arch Linux.

KISS philosophy, fast boot time, lightweight, highly customizable, rolling updates, i686 optimized, repositories are kept up to bleeding edge of the latest, and I think FTP installations are the most ideal way of installing a new OS; installing the latest of what and only what you wish to install and nothing more.

Can't go wrong with Ubuntu, though.

Another vote for Arch.

Love pacman, plus Arch doesn't dumb it down.

There's not many automatic ways of doing things, but some very good guides. This makes it easy to achieve whilst learning more about Linux.
