Is Fuji S5700 any good?

Guys I need your advise on Fuji S5700. I am looking forward to get this camera but before I go for it I was wondering if someone could tell me about this camera bit more and whether you have used it to its limit?

I was recently considering that very same camera (it is the FinePix S700 in the US -- why do manufacturers do that??). Based on this (http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-cameras/fujifilm-finepix-s700-black/4505-6501_7-32401643.html) review, I decided against the camera. I chose the Fuji FinePix S6000fd (and love it, btw!) but it was significantly more expensive.

If the S5700 meets your needs at what I THINK is a pretty good price (1 pound = 2 US dollars, more or less?), then go ahead and purchase it.

Never used the S5700, but I do own the S5000 - obviously an earlier model. Works a charm. All I can say is, Fujifilm are pretty good at making decent cameras. You'll never beat a good old manual Nikon, of course, but sadly the days of film are at an end... :(
And DSLR Nikons cost the Earth!

thanks guys for replies i guess I will go for panasonic LUMIX with wide angle zoom 12 X and it is just 40 quid more than s5700. What you say about that ?

Fuji makes some good cameras, I still have the legendary S602z.

Wow...it is my dream to have camera like that but out of budget at the moment...wish i could afford it..
Price for it in UK is more than US..shame

I own a Fugi FinePix S700 and I hate Ubuntu's support for it.

It doesn't appear as a volume on the desktop, so if you hit 'cancel' to it's initial "Import Photos" dialogue, you're screwed.
