I use X-ten's X-lite on my laptop pc (for sip) and the asterisk-guru's idefisk for iax communications to my asterisk box at home.

Been looking for a phone/arm port of some softphone-voip-app too...
maybe we can bundle our efforts and ask these guys to have a recompiled version of the soft for the arm and other cpus that are in the smartphones...
I went back to my windows mobile based phone and am using SJLabs' Sjphone now, without any problem... but that's Windows Mobile -only...

Hope this helped a bit?
