Hey there.
I downloaded the slackware DVD iso off of their website via torrent, but, upon burning (I tried 3 seperate times), it continually crashes on the 'reading physical drives'. It stops there, and I even left it for a good hour or two.
Any suggestions...as I'm really interested in how Slackware works.

No idea
Did you check the md5sum of the downloaded iso? Did you download it every time from the same web/link or did you tried another option (not torrent)? Have you got any of these problems before with another linux distro?

Well, my laptop (Acer Aspire 5100) is not compatible with a lot of distros (such as Freespire, Gentoo, and a number of others.) but it tends to work with Debian, Ubuntu, and so on. Usually they'll tell me when they don't work though...this just sort of froze there.
I usually only download from the Slackware website, as I don't trust downloading ISOs from anywhere else.

Some steps to try:
1. after downloading the DVD iso, check the md5sum to make sure it matches.
2. when burning the DVD, burn at the slowest speed possible. I normally burn dvd's at 4x speed.
