No one get offended, but this is now the primary OS on my laptop. Seriously, everything just worked, even ndiswrapper, minus the fact i had to install 1.9 for it to work, but everything else worked, and it even recognizes that its a widescreen, never could get that with ubuntu. plays mp3s and even *gasp* m4as out of the box as well. fglrx, radeon, and nvidia drivers are a breeze to install, and just honestly, i think that this could replace windows on any machine. even my dad was impressed, and he somehow got it into his head that linux is not as good as windows. the only thing i need to do now is get beryl working (having trouble enabling xgl) and i have a laptop that runs fast and makes my friends with macs hate me . also, the live cd allows you to make any changes you want to the system as if it were already installed on your HD, and then when you install, whatever configuration you have is applied to your machine, so by the time i installed, i had GAIM, wireless, and a few extra goodies. also, you can make your own custom cd image of however your machine is configured (from the liveCD), but i havent been able to find that

downsides though, umm apparently its not exactly upgradeable from release to release. at all. something theyre fixing soon, but currently upgrading is not an option. and when i registered in their forums, i havent even gotten the confirmation email yet (though that could have something to do with my schools email server, not sure yet). it uses a kanotix kernel, which isnt a bad thing, but i heard that kanotix isnt doing so hot right now. also a security flaw, 'sudo' does not ask for a password... enough said there. also, on my install at least, only gxine can play m4as, i dont know why nothing else will, its kinda sad but whatever as long as something can.

i havent tried printing yet so i dont know how well it will work. also this is all based on the fact i have a newer machine, i dont know how this will run on something older.

i do reccomend this distro though for anyone trying to find an easy windows alternative or for someone who wants easy eye candy. hope this helps
