I just started using Joomla on my site as a Content Management System and I was wondering if anybody had any opinions on Joomla...

I was wondering too..and also why prefer Drupal to joomla or not? What are the differences?
That would be helpful if someone with experience posted some comments..

I use Joomla extensively and absolutely love it. I love the templating system. It's also very easy to create your own components and modules. There are a ton of free, user-created extensions at http://extensions.joomla.org

Examples:
Can o Frags (http://www.canofrags.com)
LDS Gamers (http://www.ldsgamers.org)
UHS Test Site (http://uhs.canofrags.com)
Tekify Under Development (http://tekify.com)

I've used Joomla during a study project for a customer. We had a deadline so we had to use a template.
Editing the css file was an absolute nightmare. There were several different css files spread around at random directories, no logical reason for this. It took so much time and it was so complicated that we regretted using a template. If we made a whole site ourself it would have saved us a lot of time.
Also the GUI wasn't organized in a logical way, took way too long to find simple features.

We had lots of problems with certain settings changing every time we logged back in. This apparently was a bug they "couldn't" fix.

To sum it up: I haven't used it very long but my experience was so terrible I think you'd better use an alternative. :)

Yeah, I really like Joomla and I've been working with it for over a year now. The modules and mambots can be confusing but other than that its very administrator friendly.

This is one drawback to using a template, especially free ones. They are user-created and some people aren't very organized with their CSS. Creating your own is quite easy though, and it probably would have saved you tons of time.

Are you talking about the admin area or the site itself? The admin area takes a little getting used to, but if the site itself is unorganized then you can blame that on the template.

I was referring to the admin area. We changed a lot of the template until the site looked the way we wanted, the original was pretty ugly yeah. ;)
