well I guess not the actual sum concerns those who donate (or consider doing this). if someone wants to give $10 I think he doesn't care if the guy wants $2000 laptop or a $500 one.
or maybe it's just me who's so easy to impress...:D

It's not difficult to get an older laptop for free or very cheap and get it up and running linux since it's light on system requirements. You don't need a top end computer for making most software. I had to work my *** off at a minimum wage job while going to school to buy my own laptop so i don't feel bad for him.

Yeah, my laptop cost me $200 and it does all i need from a laptop.

Despite being considered a long-haired hippy by my friends i think this guy should get of his **** and earn his laptop rather than, from what it appears, just beg.

Maybe it's just me or maybe i envy people with money to give away for no good reason.

He could of course ask for some spare parts. A lot of people have spare parts which will probably never be used again by themselves. Just cost shipping. With a little organizing you could send it from one country. Costs about $30.

More like I want a $2000 gaming laptop. I'm using a $600 laptop right now and this thing has seen and ran more linux distros than torvalds. I use it for everything. The kid could have been a bit more modest.
