Hi folks,

You may or may not have heard that Nik Butler the current ubuntu-uk contact has resigned his post and that a new ubuntu-uk contact is needed.

If you feel that you can fill this position, then you need to post to the ubuntu-uk mailing list, to the thread called 'Position for Ubuntu-Uk Contact'.

David Morley posted this message in the ubuntu-uk mailing list:

It pays no money you get little thanks but it is important. If you
feel you could step into Nik's shoes and basically pass info from mail
onto the group then sign up now for this amazing position.

Seriously People. If you are a regular on the irc channel then now is
the time to step forward and make yourself known. This job involves
getting info in form of emails etc and passing the info on to the
group (Ubuntu-Uk) to be voted on and discussed. You are basically
just a contact point for anyone and everyone.

So Bravely step forward and volunteer for this most prominent role and
enjoy the adulation you receive.

Due to some ambiguity as to how we should vote for a new member,
last night's IRC meeting focused on establishing the fairest way to do so.
The process which follows is the result of that meeting, and it's been
designed to be as fair as possible. For this reason we would ask any
candidates to please stick to it. Late entries will not be accepted.

Candidates for the Loco contact position have until 23:59 on Wednesday
26th September 2007 to register an interest by adding their names to
the following page.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/ubuntu-uk.org/PoC_candidates

Names will then be taken from the candidate page, and added to a
launchpad poll which will appear here:

https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-uk/+polls

The poll will be open for voting by Ubuntu-UK members registered with
the launchpad Ubuntu-UK team https://launchpad.net/%7Eubuntu-uk from
0:00 Thursday 28th September 2007 until 21:00 Sunday 30th September
2007.

At or around the close of voting, the winning candidate will be
announced on the mailing list, forums and IRC.

NOTE: All times quoted are BST, not UTC.

I know this is a little bit late, but just in case there is anyone about who hadn't heard yet, Alan Pope (http://www.popey.com) was elected to the Loco contact position.

I'm sure Alan will do a great job, and I'm also sure you'll all give him your support to help make Ubuntu-UK a great success!
