I have been searching for the best dark theme that best goes with Elive Gem Night Version...
I want it dark but I also want it to be a bit minimalistic:
Here is a list of dark themes that I tried that just did not make the muster, in other words this is the NO list!:
1. RedShift V2 RC1 (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4521) by C. Nicks (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/9469) - sorry C. Nicks but this is the most horrendous assault on my eyes that I have ever experienced, if I ever meet you I most likely will punch you right in the snout for creating this one.
2. Aquatint Black (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5246) by Bodizzle (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/98129) - I like this theme very, very much but this would do better if I was using the Day version of Elive Gem.
3. NASA Night Launch (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4908) by mcdavis941 (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/10257) - again I like this theme a lot also, the overall look is very refined. The deal killer for me is that damn bright flash image of the Nasa Night Launch. That image is the basis of you designing this theme but honestly I would enjoy it more if you made a plain Jane version without the Nasa Night Image, perhaps call it the anti-Nasa night image theme. Just plain black please.
4. PitchDark for Fx (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1529) by Tim Banker (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/1124) - Tim don't quit your day job brother.
5. BlackJapanMAX (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3248) by Jay Row (aka Da Juggernaut) (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/34692) - aka the JuggerNOT...actually I remember when BlackJapan first came out, I loved it, but there are now a lot more well done themes; ie Aquatint Black and NASA Night Launch. This theme looks half finished at best. Unfortunately, because it has so much potential.
6. Kempelton (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5394) by Arvid Axelsson (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/31) - Again here is another great piece of work, very simplistic and beautiful but like Aquatint Black it goes a bit to much into the grey hue, opposed to the dark black hue I am looking for. Again this is a very beautiful and well done theme.
7. OldFactory Black (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3941) by Alexander Brandl (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/44597) - heres one that surprised me. I took one look at the initial picture which shows the large icons and I thought what a horrible joke. I was pleasantly surprised with small icons the look is astonishingly different and cool in a very eccentric and off beat way. I will keep this one installed for now and try it again later. The primary problem with this theme is it is not as simplistic as I would like it to be and the overall design is broken up...it needs some major work and polish. I have decide to delete this option also.
8. MidnightFox (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2311) by TwisterMc (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/9138) - This person is twisted, actually this would be a great theme if you have low vision problems lets say about a -12.00 + on the spherical portion of your prescription. The multicolor buttons on the dark background just jump right out at you and slap you across the face.
9. BlackAqua (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3101) by Jay Row (aka Da Juggernaut) (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/34692) - This guy is a JuggerNUT! I obviously have not done enough drugs to enjoy or even understand this one.
10. DarkBlood (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3158) by Jay Row (aka Da Juggernaut) (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/34692) - Enough is enough! this is the last theme by JuggerNUThead that I am going to try. If there was ever anyone who deserved to get punched in the face for creating the most annoying theme ever it is JuggerHead.
11. BlackX (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4780) by xXSonyBoy4lfeXx (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/123676) - Is a very nice minimalistic theme but again like Aquatint Black and Kempelton it goes too much into the greyish hue.
12. INpact Dark Blue (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5440) by Kyro38 (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/104646) - I gave this a try as suggested in this thread but I found the blue hues to bright for my taste.
13. Cylence Theme 2: Black Diamond Edition RC1 (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4371) by Warboy (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/89381) - Another Warboy edition that is nice but this one does not render correctly.
14. Black Fiber (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4243) by Marc Phillips (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/85781) - what an incredible waste of time and energy this person must have spent putting together this horrid theme, Marc don't quite your day job and please stop putting together Firefox themes!
15. Halloween (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1360) by Ed Hume (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/104)- Ed what ever possessed you to create the most horrid useless theme I have ever experienced. Lets hope you have overcome your illness or that this is just a sick cruel twisted joke of yours. I'm not laughing and it isn't funny!
16. HalloFF (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3522) by TwisterMc (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/9138) - This is the most surprising to me of all!....I thought while I am trying dark themes why not try this one even though it appears to be a bit seasonal with Halloween implications and all. What an awesome and pleasant surprise! This theme overall is awesome! The theme is done with what appears to be characters inspired by or from the Tim Burton movie "The Nightmare Before Christmas", the orange is a perfect touch and not over done. About the same color orange as the RSS feed button so it blends in nicely. I love it! For right now I will use the HalloFF Theme by TwisterMC. EDIT: my decision on this the theme; the developer forgot to set up the bottom bar. This otherwise great theme gets sent to the 'NO' Pile.
Here is what I found so far that I like the best, This is the YES! List :
1. Cylence Theme 2: Black Edition Beta 2 (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4334) by Warboy (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/89381) - Warboy has found a way to combine simplicity and beauty in a dark minimalistic way the resulting outcome is simply awesome. The very slight blue hue on the buttons is perfect.
2. Cylence Theme 2: Extra Black Edition RC1 (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4370) by Warboy (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/user/89381) - this one is a keeper! another fine work of art by Warboy. much like the one above but without the blue hues.
After the removal of HalloFF that leaves me with the two themes by Warboy, of which for now I will go with Cylence Theme 2: Black Edition Beta 2 (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4334) with the slight bluish buttons.
