Microsoft & the whole linux interoperability scandal?

I'm honestly confused , maybe I'm on the fence.

"Microsoft and Novell Open Interoperability Lab" (http://www.linuxlookup.com/2007/sep/12/microsoft_and_novell_open_interoperability_lab)

Linux in great danger? (http://blogs.ittoolbox.com/linux/locutus/archives/how-linux-is-being-subverted-18960)

wouldn't more or better interoperability be good? what about games? could there be good intentions , or is it a ploy to wtfpwn open source?

It's a blatant attempt to disrail the entire OSS ethos of Linux. :(

It appears that this interoperability lab is focussed solely on providing interoperability between the enterprise versions of their respective operating systems, according to the article. It is kind of vague about what exactly they will be doing, however. The "compatibility of office documents" kind of hints that Microsoft and Novell may be working to bring an OOXML plugin to OpenOffice and/or an ODF plugin for Word. Even that's not incredibly sinister. I don't see it becoming some sort of attack on all we hold dear, as the paranoid ramblings of the author in the second link makes it out to be.

Very good. "paranoid ramblings".

How does a short one-liner possibly qualify as paranoid ramblings ?

But thanks for the feedback. I'll treasure your insult forever.

Well, I wasn't talking to or about you, but rather the author of the second link in the original post. Sorry if you misunderstood.
