Took me three days, but was finally able to install Ubuntu onto a very old Gateway E5200

Specs
PII MMX
280mb of ram
16GB HD

Originally held WinNT, very happy about this as I was given 4 of these computers, two had busted motherboards and was asked to rebuild 1-2 of them to run as Linux comps. Normally I'd run DSL here, but I figured I'd try to throw on Ubuntu since the latest DSL 3.4.2 release really sucked in my opinion.

I figured that if the Gnome WM ran slow I could throw on flux or XFCE but from where I'm at now it seems to be working very well and with no problems.

This comp is supposed to be used as a training guide for students at a local library, so it will be great getting them to dive into Linux the Ubuntu way ;)

Very cool! Did you use the alt install?
