Hi guys,
I am hoping someone can shed some light on this. I installed wine and managed to get BG working, eventually got sound and played for a day.

Then the option came up for updates for wine, and although it wasn't broke i downloaded it anyway, now the game won't load save game or even start new game.

Can i just downgrade to previous wine version that worked?
Guess I should send bugfix a note too...

Then I got carried away and installed dosbox, which doesn't want to play either.

Love some direction, tired from endlessly reading forums

Probably shouldn't apologise untill I sort out problem.
Tried winecfg in terminal, and set up according to what i read. It worked!
Then i accidentally closed the window the game was in and now it won't restart and this was the message in terminal:~$ winecfg
X Error of failed request: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)
Major opcode of failed request: 1 (X_CreateWindow)
Resource id in failed request: 0x3000007
Serial number of failed request: 13
Current serial number in output stream: 15
hmmmm...

Any suggestions?

Downgrade?

Don't upgrade wine if the they games you use works great (my motto)

Yeah thats the problem, there was nothing wrong with the game, but in my finite wisdom i downloaded it any way, hence the problem
