Custard is one of those strange compounds that if you hit it, it feels solid but if you touch it your hand sinks into it.

Interesting analogy, and whilst I would ordinarily be inclined to agree that anything which moves slowly in the software world is doomed to failure, he fails to point out that whilst Microsoft might move slower than Linux, they have the benefit of already being an established name, the default in pretty much everything and enough funding to see themselves through.

However,

Those of you who remember the state of Linux when XP was released and compare it to the state it is today will realise that Linux must be the fastest maturing operating system in history.
is certainly something to think about.

And I bet Vista doesn't taste as nice as custard either. :p
