"With the Linux-based platform we would have a system crash at least once a week. Migrating to a Microsoft-based system has virtually eliminated server crashes and we have vendor support."

How about this one? (http://blogs.cnet.com/8301-13505_1-9773662-16.html?part=rss&tag=feed&subj=TheOpenRoad)

With regards to the first one though, I think when either Microsoft or Linux people do these kind of "Real life testimonials" that they can sound ridiculously fanboyish

The part about vendor support may be true, but the part about the servers crashing isn't. It's well known that linux servers crash less when compared to Windows ones, with Linux servers such as Apache known to have one of the highest uptimes with Windows lagging far behind those times due to frequent crashes.

This is probably another futile attempt in trying to convert people who know what server is really good and what isn't, but it may have some success with those who don't.

All hail Linux.:lolflag:

They were probably using Linus Torvalds' original kernel for that test. :)

Everyone knows these studies are bought and paid for by Microsoft. When you manipulate all the variables and buy the authors, you can get any result you damn well like. Same goes for "testimonials".

Edit: Oh and their new FUD centre is called WIndowsServer/Compare (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver/compare/default.mspx)

Also, I think this was talked about before...

I don't think FUD is the right word, BS comes to mind though.

I'd even run OS X as a server before I ran Windows, I mean seriously.

lolz u guys :) very few are non-paid, but the majority are, I do know that Ubuntu does pay for some testimonials in the end, but there is more things to worry about - but funny tho.. :) ftp.microsoft.com

In one study conducted by Security Innovations, researchers found that all of the Linux administrators made changes to components of the operating system that would have violated the support agreement with the Linux vendor. Each of the Linux administrators then spent time trying to re-configure the system to account for future waves of functional changes and patches.

Open Source is a software development and distribution model, which does not equate to how easily the software interoperates with other software or how open or standardized the interfaces are.
