What do you think should be on the Wisconsin Loco webpage? This is the place to suggest pages, links, etc.

Suggestions during the meeting:
IRC access via the webpage.
Information about what an Operating System is.
Guide on how to become a member and how we use all of our resources.

We also mentioned I believe a "Quick Start" page, and later I was talking with rob-e and we agreed that having some video tutorials, (or screencast type stuff) could be beneficial.
Perhaps also a "terminology" page. Alot of times we geeks talk and the newbie's sorta have to say "Say What?"
Granted we can't teach basic computing skills if we're working with someone like my sister ;) but we can take some of the initial "pain" away when we say things like:
"drop out to the command line/terminal" or "open up synaptic" etc...
Also, another question I get hit with alot is "How should I partition my drive" or even "I want to dual boot, how do I resize my Windows partition" etc...

That's a generous offer.
Should we look into this? https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LoCoHosting
Wherever we get hosting from, we need write access to the folder in which it resides.

I like that option. It seems to fit our needs and seems to have enough features for us.

Indeed. We would need to become recognized by Canonical first, however

If you find a theme here you like, please reply to the thread posting your suggestions. All colors and images can be changed accordingly.
This is the theme I am currently looking at: http://themes.wordpress.net/columns/3-columns/61/qwilm-03/
Here is an example after a little tweaking. It's being hosted on my web server in my room at the moment. It has very little downtime, so it should work. http://cilantro.homelinux.net:2007/blog/?p=5
Thoughts, ideas, comments?

I have been trying to start a local linux users group in Eau Claire (not ubuntu based, but we will discuss ubuntu a lot) When I do get it set up I am going to be buying a domain and hosting and I would have no problem providing you guys with hosting you could be ubuntu.mywebsite.org or something like that. I could give you all the stuff they are offering there plus much more disk space and email addresses. I do have experience with setting up and running websites.

So if there's something that we think needs to be blogged, etc...do we contact you? are or there going to be other members that can post, etc?
Just wondering.

For now I think that will work. The website isn't being used as a means for all of us to communicate. It's more of a resource tool if we make use of it, and another front-end to potential gain in membership.

I guess i was referring more to something like: someone in the group creates a tutorial or something. Agreed that we won't be using this to communicate to the group...we've got several other methods for that :)
a good tutorial that gets dugg is good exposure for the group.

Guys I live in Madison and would really love to join the Ubuntu group. I dont quite use Ubuntu though, I am an Arch Linux user, but would definitely like to meet more Linux users.
Cheers
